Chillicothe Board of Ed discusses possible levy & new district building

The Chillicothe Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday at Grand River Technical School.

Superintendent Dan Wiebers says one of the issues discussed was the possibility of a levy.

"We discussed a possible levy for our school district.  There was some discussion about whether we would hold that in the April or August election period.  No decision was made.  We would like to discuss the issue with the city.  They may possibly have an issue coming up in April also and we didn't want to compete against them for that election time period.  So still in discussion on that levy."

Wiebers adds another item on the agenda was the construction of a new district office.

"Our district office was flooded last May and the district has been working with the insurance company to build a new district office for our district.  An RFQ for architectural services was put out and I just discussed with the board that we will be hopefully selecting an architect in the December meeting to move forward on constructing our new district office."

The Board's next regular meeting is scheduled for December 17th at 6:30 p.m.
